Ann has significant experience in the primary education sector. Since being awarded her degree in Education Studies and English from Nottingham University she has spent the majority of her career in School Leadership Roles across North Yorkshire. Starting out as a primary classteacher, she became a Deputy Headteacher in two town centre schools before taking up the Headship of Darley Primary School, a village school in Nidderdale. After 6 years, she gained promotion and was appointed as the Headteacher of Hookstone Chase Primary School in Harrogate. This was an Enhanced Mainstream School which had Specialist Provision for children with speech, language and communication difficulties. During her 10 years as Headteacher, the school achieved its first ‘good’ Ofsted rating as well as increasing its roll by 100 pupils and consequently the school underwent significant building expension. Currently Ann is working as the Director of Primary School Improvement of Northern Star Academies Trust as well as supporting initial teacher trainees as a lead tutor.
Ann is looking forward to her new role as a governor at Cundall Manor School.
