Sir Thomas Ingilby

Sir Thomas is a Chartered Surveyor who owns the Ripley Castle Estate, Harrogate. After leaving Eton he taught Latin and PE at a multi-racial preparatory school in Zimbabwe before joining the Scots Guards and studying land agency at the Royal Agricultural College. He was a founding director of the North Yorkshire Training and Enterprise Council and was a director of the Yorkshire Tourist Board for 12 years, five as vice chairman. He is a director of the regional tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire and Chairs the Yorkshire’s Great Houses, Castles and Gardens marketing consortium. He is the very active chairman of the Nidderdale Amateur Cricket League, and founded and administers the national Stately Homes Hotline crime intelligence network. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Harrogate Business Awards. All four of his sons attended the school. He has been a governor since 2007.
