Scholarships and Bursaries
Our aim is to ensure every child is given every opportunity to find their own talent and to reach their full potential, in whatever field that may be and whatever their family circumstances. Our hugely popular open scholarship program offers children with a talent in a range of areas (not just academia) the opportunity to join a community where that talent will be nurtured, maximised and celebrated. Our bursaries and other awards enable pupils to become, or continue to be part of, a learning community that they might not otherwise be able to enjoy.
Purpose
At Cundall Manor School scholarships, bursaries and other awards are made to individual pupils:
• To assist them in attending the school where it would otherwise not be possible due to financial restrictions
• To encourage excellence across the curriculum
• To assist families with more than one child, in making the school’s provision available to all siblings
• To provide families who are part of the Armed Forces with a consistent and continuing education for their children.
Further details about the application process and timescales are available in our Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards policy document:

Scholarships
To apply for a scholarship, the candidate needs to email the following:
a) A letter of application that includes the applicant’s areas of interest (Academia, Art, Drama, Music, Sport, or All-Rounder), along with a description of their personality and values.
b) All applicants will be invited to attend a scholarship assessment day, where they will participate in various activities based on their selected disciplines. For example, these may include an assessed performance (Drama), a fitness and skills assessment followed by a games afternoon (Sport), a still life drawing exercise and conceptual ideas response (Art), as well as CAT tests for new starters, and additional Maths and English papers. All-rounder applicants will engage in a combination of these activities and will complete CAT tests on the day. The day is designed to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Join a community where talent is nurtured, maximised, and celebrated.
At Cundall Manor, we prioritise stretching and challenging each pupil through individualised learning. With small class sizes and dedicated teachers, we ensure all students’ abilities are recognised. For those needing extra support, our learning support department offers specialised assistance. Our scholarship programme provides extension tasks and activities to deepen enthusiasm and learning for our most able pupils. We encourage enthusiastic pupils from Year 6 upwards to apply for scholarships, allowing them to further their learning and become exemplary ambassadors within the school.
Our aim is to help every child discover their talents and reach their full potential. The open scholarship programme supports a range of talents, including academic, artistic, musical, dramatic, sporting or all-round excellence.
While the selection process is rigorous, the assessment day is designed to be enjoyable.
Each scholar is supported by a personal Scholarship Tutor, in addition to their Form Tutor, to nurture and celebrate their skills within a supportive community. They also gain access to workshops, events, and guest speakers.
As a scholar, students are expected to:
• Represent the school with distinction in their area of expertise
• Act as exemplary role models, sharing their passions with peers
• Embrace all additional learning opportunities and complete any tasks set by their tutor
• Actively participate in scholar events, workshops, and other sessions within the Scholarship programme
