Cundall Manor Pupils both winners at Ripon Young Musicians of the Year Competition 2022

Connie S and Henry P were winners at this year’s Ripon Young Musicians of the Year Competition, and Cundall Manor School are extremely proud to have them as pupils at the school.
Connie, who is in Year 3 and won the Grade 1 & 2 class for singing, is delighted to have won and thinks that her singing lessons certainly helped her to clinch the trophy. Henry P, a Cundall Manor music scholar and GCSE Music student in year 10, thinks that this year had particularly tough competition, and he was excited to be in the finalists’ concert on the evening of 7th October, having won his class earlier in the day. Henry has been playing the trumpet since he was 7 years old and is in the school Senior Band, as well as in the National Children’s Orchestra. Henry is also an accomplished pianist, and has accompanied the school’s musical theatre productions.
Sarah Reece the Head of Music at Cundall Manor school said, “Henry and Connie should be really proud of their achievements as are we all. Their hard work, perseverance and love of music are always in evidence.”
Mr James-Roll the new Headmaster at Cundall Manor said “It is a great achievement that two of our pupils went on to win this brilliant accolade and we are exceptionally proud of both Henry and Connie for all that they bring to the world of music. Cundall Manor has a vibrant music department and we encourage all our children to take up and stay with a musical instrument that they enjoy. Both Connie and Henry are a credit to the school and an inspiration to other pupils at Cundall Manor.”
