Switch Off Fortnight

Pupils are encouraging their friends, teachers and parents to be more aware of how they use electricity as part of ‘Switch Off Fortnight;’ a campaign to reduce energy consumption organised by The Pod.

Madame Cooke has been leading the eco-warrior enrichment group by encouraging pupils to learn why it’s important to try to save energy.

As part of the event, pupils go undercover and complete a school audit to find out where energy is being wasted.

The nationwide event has over 1700 schools and colleges taking part.

Last year, eco-warriors saw a median energy saving of around 10% from the event. At the end of the campaign, pupils will complete a second school audit to find out how behaviour has changed.

Pupils will then share the results with their friends and teachers in an attempt to encourage everyone to keep up the good work all year round.
