Songwriting Workshop Inspires Upper School

A workshop from a talented up-and-coming songwriter recently inspired dozens of our Upper School pupils.

Rich Cottell, came to Cundall earlier this term to conduct a series of songwriting workshops with some of the school’s older pupils.

The 24 year-old from Devon, who recently released his debut album, ‘More than just a Geek,’ has a cult following online and has a string of writing credits to his name for some of Britain’s biggest selling pop artists.

Describing his sound as ‘feel good, live life pop,’ Rich visited the school and encouraged pupils to get some of their thoughts down on paper.

Rich said: “My goal was to show young people how, when they put their mind to it, anyone, musician or not, can write and be involved with the writing of a song.”

“The day was a huge success, with all students creating minimum of a verse and chorus in small groups and performing them.”

Adding: “My hope is that it will inspire some of the students to be even more creative and explore songwriting as a career.”
