GCSE Physics in Action
Pupils from Eldmire and Thornton have taken a novel approach to investigating velocity and acceleration in their GCSE Physics lessons, by using photoelectric timing gates to time various pupils sprinting over 40m. The gates were placed at 10m intervals so average velocity and acceleration could be calculated. Interestingly it’s one of the tests the England Rugby players will have been put through over the last few months to their monitor performance during the current Rugby World Cup. The children will be comparing themselves to the latest velocity and acceleration data from the England Rugby academy and Usain Bolt to see how they measure up!
