Team GB Call for Hannah

A Cundall Manor School pupil is set to compete for Great Britain at the Pony European Championships later this Summer.
Hannah Barker, aged 13, has been selected to ride for Great Britain under the title sponsor banner of Team LeMieux in the Pony European Championships. The competition takes place between the 7th – 12th August 2018 at Bishop Burton College where Hannah will compete with Ammanvalley Santino, a 14 year-old dark bay gelding owned by Lynn Barker.
As one of the top riders in her class, Hannah is looking to build on a strong start to the season having recently represented Great Britain and secured a podium place after finishing joint second in their Nations Cup at the Sportridingclub Lamprechtshausen in Austria.
Hannah and her team will be looking to go one better and secure the top-step of the podium following solid performances that saw Team GB share the spoils with The Netherlands after both sides finished on 8 penalties behind the Italian team who took the win with 4 penalties.
Hannah took the role of anchor rider and she rode Cartouche II, a 15 year-old bay gelding owned by Ian Barker. Showing great maturity under pressure, Hannah belied her age and produced two superb clear rounds to ensure that she carried no penalties forward to the final result. She was one of only four riders to deliver a double clear.
Last year was a remarkable year for the North Yorkshire youngster who claimed a Bronze medal as part of the Children on Horses Team in Belgium and secured the prestigious National U14 title at British Showjumping National Championships.
Head of Forms 5 and 6 at Cundall Manor School, Louise Bessey said: “We are really proud of Hannah’s achievements to date. She is so committed to all her sport and this is a further opportunity for her to shine on the international stage.”“We will all be supporting her and we know that she will give it her all.”
